"Lift thine eyes slowly to the great dark tree

That stands against heaven, solitary, tall,

And thou hast visioned Life, its meanings rise

Like words that in the silence clearer grow..."

These words taken from a poem called "Initiation" by Rainer Maria Rilke have been a part of what has inspired me since I began work on this Tree Series in January 2017, opening May 26, 2017. I have noticed the human-like qualities trees have in Nature since I was a girl and chose that as my focus for this series.

Though our natural world continues to be threatened, we continue to receive beauty and hope from Nature. As an artist, I want to bring attention to what I perceive as beauty through use of color, texture, line and design in my paintings.
